Frequently Asked Questions
Morning Service
When and where is the service?
Saturday, September 5, 2026
10:15 AM – 12:00 PM
Congregation B'nai Shalom
Westborough, Massachusetts
Can parents attend the service?
Absolutely! Parents, family members, and friends are warmly invited to join us for the Bar Mitzvah service. We'd love to celebrate this special milestone with you.
I've never been to a Bar Mitzvah. What should I expect?
A Bar Mitzvah is a Jewish coming-of-age celebration marking a boy's 13th birthday. Oliver has put in a lot of work to prepare for this event. During the service, Oliver will help lead prayers and read from the Torah.
There will be times when the congregation stands and sits. If you're unfamiliar with the service, simply follow those around you. Prayer books will be provided, and everyone is welcome.
What should I wear?
The dress code for both the morning service and the evening celebration is semi-formal.
Think of what you might wear to a wedding, holiday celebration, or special family event.
Can I take photos during the service?
Please silence your phone before entering the sanctuary.
Out of respect for the service, we ask that guests refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony. There will be opportunities for pictures before and after the service.
Will there be food after the service?
Yes! Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to stay for a luncheon as we continue celebrating together.
